Owner and Artistic Director
Megan began dancing at age two and hasn’t stopped since. A former member of the Augusta West Performing Companies, she is thrilled to be continuing the long tradition of quality dance instruction as the owner and artistic director of Augusta West Dance Studio. After two years as a dance major at Columbia College, Megan auditioned and was selected for the Young Americans, a performing group located in Southern California. She moved to Los Angeles in 1999 and as a Young American toured all over the world for the next five years. She has taught and performed in most of the fifty states, as well as in England, Scotland, Germany, and the Ukraine. During her time with The Young Americans Megan performed at Boyne Highlands Resort in Harbor Springs, MI, and at the Leelanau Sands Casino and resort in Traverse City, MI. Megan has produced and directed several shows for the Castle Hills School of Performing Arts in Gainsborough, England. She has performed in several industrials with Michael Curry designs in Los Angeles and Anaheim, California. In addition to the studio, Megan travels to other studios throughout the United States to teach classes and choreography. She has been on guest staff at the Retter’s Academy of Dance in Agoura Hills, CA. She has also been on faculty for several touring dance conventions. She would like to thank all of the dancers and parents for their continued support of Augusta West.
Founder and Instructor
Prior to opening Augusta West Dance studio in 1978, Dianne was associated with the YWCA as their dance coordinator and camp director. She has been listed in Who’s Who in the CSRA and as an Outstanding Young Woman of America. She was also named an Outstanding Citizen for the Tenth District of Georgia Federation of Women’s Club and had an award named in her honor. She has also been a nominee for the Women of Excellence Award. Dianne wrote, choreographed, and directed “A Christmas Dream,” which over the years has evolved into our annual “It’s the Night Before Christmas.” She received an “Auggie” for her choreography of the Augusta Players production of “Chicago.” Dianne was one of the founders of the Greater Augusta Dance Coalition, an organization comprised of area dance directors. She was also a member of the Board of Directors for Dance Educators of Georgia.
Company Assistant and Instructor
Artistic Director- Marlow is a 2007 graduate of Davidson Fine Arts Magnet School and received her Associates Degree in Paralegal Studies from Augusta Technical College. She is an Artistic Director of the Performing Companies. An award winning choreographer, her talents are enjoyed by audiences from Atlanta to Los Angeles. In 2009, Marlow performed in and choreographed the Highest Score Routine at Dance Makers, Inc. National Competition in Myrtle Beach, SC. For three years, Marlow choreographed the Lincoln County High School Musicals: “Suessical,” “Copa Cabana,” and “Footloose.”. Marlow has had an amazing year and would like to thank her students for inspiring her through dance!
Cindy has been dancing since she was 4 years old and has studied with many dance professionals. Her education includes a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Columbia College and a Master of Fine Arts from Florida State University. She has taught at both of the above-mentioned schools, as well as Brenau Academy. In addition to teaching at Augusta West, Cindy is also a dance teacher at Davidson Fine Arts Magnet School. She enjoys teaching and judging for various dance organizations and is especially happy to be a guest choreographer and master class teacher for studios throughout the south. She recently choreographed Guys and Dolls for DFA, and is the handbell director for the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection. Cindy is the wife of Charles Folger, Sr., and the proud mother of Charles, Jr., Thomas, and Apprentice Company member Shelby. She has enjoyed working with her students this year and is looking forward to teaching the older dance camps this summer.
Daycare Director and Pee Wee Troupe Director
Cathy began her dance training with Dianne at the YWCA, where she was an original member of “Just Us Dancers.” Along with her mother, “Miss Tikie,” she implemented the Augusta West Daycare Program, which she taught for 10 years before moving to California. After returning to Augusta she jumped right back in, took on the daycare program again, and continues that program today. In 2009 Cathy was instrumental in developing and directing our Pee Wee Troupe program. She is extremely proud of her High Score winning Pee Wee Troupe and all of her daycare students for an amazing dance year. Cathy and her husband Bobby are the proud mommy and daddy and of their four legged children Magnolia and Baxter.
Pee Wee Troupe Director, Company Training Instructor
Bea began her dance training in California taking jazz and tap from famous dance teachers including Shirley Temple’s stand in. She has been teaching at Augusta West for 27 years. During her time here at the studio, she was company director for Mini, Junior, and Apprentice Companies. Her choreography won and is still winning national awards. She has also choreographed 6 Aquinas High School musicals. Bea has been married to her husband Dennis for 48 years, has three sons and daughter in laws. When not dancing, she fills her time with her awesome grandchildren. “So very proud of my dancers, love you!, Miss Bea”
Studio I Manager and Mistress of Ceremony
Barbara is “Miss Dianne’s” younger sister and has been affiliated with Augusta West for many years as the “Mistress of Ceremony” for recitals. She has a special role in the annual Christmas production, “It’s the Night Before Christmas.” In 1980, she was very instrumental in forming the Augusta West Dance Guild, Inc., a non-profit organization to promote dance in our area. Barbara and her husband, George, have two sons- Brad and Chris, and a daughter-in-law, Brandi, and are the proud grandparents to grandson, Rex.
Ashley Landrum White
Ashley joins our staff again after taking ten years off to be with her children. She grew up dancing in the Augusta West Performing Companies and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Performance and Choreography from Columbia College. She founded and directed Random Dance Company from 1997-1999, and then performed with Anonymity Dance in Charleston, SC during their 1999-2000 season. Ashley Moved back to Augusta in 2001 and directed the Mini Troupe for a year and then the Junior Company for two years before she left to start her family. She is thrilled to be back at the studio and has very much enjoyed teaching Level 1 and Level 3 this year.
Company Ballet Director
Carlee began her ballet training at the age of five with Ron Jones Academy of Ballet. At the age of thirteen, she joined Jones’ Augusta Dance Theater as a principal dancer performing lead roles in Copellia, Pequita, Nutcracker, and Etudes. Carlee attended summer training programs with Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Joffrey Ballet, and the Burklyn Ballet as a scholarship student. At the age of fourteen, Carlee joined the Augusta Ballet as a trainee under the direction of Zanne Colton. She appeared in Dracula, Swan Lake, Tilt, and The Nutcracker. Carlee also performed as a guest artist in the role of the Sugar Plum Fairy with Columbia County Ballet. She formerly danced with Dance Augusta under the direction of Zanne Colton where she performed lead roles in The Nutcracker, Back to GA, Pas de Dix, A Place to Dance, Gift to Be Simple, Hearth of Embers, La Sulphide, and Giselle. Carlee and her husband recently move back to Augusta after living in beautiful Denver, Colorado where Carlee taught at the Denver Academy of Ballet and Metropolitan Academy of Dance. She now enjoys teaching Company Ballet at Augusta West and the primary levels at the Augusta Ballet School. Carlee recently welcome her first child into the world and is the proud mommy of a the sweetest baby girl in the world.
Whitney began dancing at age three at Candy’s Happy Feet in North Augusta, SC. At age seven, she began dancing with the Augusta West Performing Companies. She is a graduate of Piedmont Technical College with a degree in Mortuary Science and Business Administration. Miss Whitney developed our Tutus and Toddlers program and continues to teach that level this year. Whitney and her husband, Casey, have two sons, Davis and Colin.
A member of the Augusta West Dance Company from age ten to eighteen, Mckenna is a recent graduate of North Augusta High School. During her time in the companies, she has performed in numerous award-winning routines. Last year Mckenna was selected out of hundreds of dancers to represent Revel dance convention as a ProReveler. She has spent this year traveling around the country assisting some of the top dancers and teachers in the industry. While Mckenna still loves performing she has found a passion for teaching and choreography.
